How long does it take to paint a painting? 

I aim to complete a commissioned painting every fortnight. Sometimes I am working ahead of schedule – for example if a client doesn’t want to make any changes – and your slot will come forward. I am also painting my own collection and pieces for galleries, so there is usually more than one painting being completed per week.

 

What is the lead-time for a commission? 

I usually have a 4-month lead time.

 

Can you work from a client's photos? 

Yes, or I use my own imagery bank of a location. The light and resolution needs to be high quality for me to work from, so I may have to decline an image and source my own for approval by a client. I like to have a large proportion of sky versus land. I can add figures (or dogs!) into a composition via Photoshop if a client supplies me with photos of the figures in the appropriate poses.

 

Can you recreate a painting I have seen on your website?

Yes, there are many sold paintings I can recreate ‘same same but different!’. All my paintings are unique and never an exact replica. However, where I have used a client’s personal image for a commission, I wouldn’t recreate those, as it would be unfair on my client.

 

Can I return an artwork if I don't like it? 

You can return a painting or print within 14 days if you change your mind, so long as it is in the same mint condition as I sold it to you. Commissions are different – a client pays 50% of the painting’s worth upfront which is non-refundable; then 50 % on completion when they have made any changes they want to. A client can refuse to pay the completion balance in which case the artist retains the painting (this has never actually happened thankfully!).

How much does a painting cost?

My costs are based on size – the larger the more expensive – but this is not a reflection on the time spent on a piece, as the smallest pieces are usually the most fiddly and take a long time! Because my style is loose and free, the larger paintings are usually bolder, although I appreciate everyone has different budgets. As a guide, my 2026 prices including VAT are:

What is the most popular size you sell ?

My most popular print size is 80x80cm ‘float-mounted’; and my most popular painting size is 80x80cm or 100x100cm. This tells me that people are seeking a statement piece for their home, for example over a sofa, mantlepiece or new extension wall.

 

Do you do prints unframed? 

No, I do not offer prints unframed. I like to know how the print will end up so that there is a continuity of my work out there beyond the studio. Framing can be costly and my offering is very reasonable to save you the hassle. White-wash wood is my standard offer, as it really makes the artwork pop and matches with most interiors, however I can offer a different choice of frame colour at no extra cost.  

 

Can you post an artwork to me?

Yes, I can post an artwork. I use Perspex for prints instead of glass to minimise damage in transit. Overseas costs may vary and I can accurately quote once I know your address and the weight of the artwork boxed. I use Transglobal to courier my work, as there is always someone at the end of the phone to track the artwork and they list a menu of options upon booking which I let my client choose from e.g. UPS, DX, DPD.

 

Can you visit my home to see the space and match to my interior colour scheme?

I do not usually recee a client’s home as I try to maximise my time in the studio painting. Instead, I ask for photos and/or videos of the space so I can create you visuals to sign off. You are welcome to send me details of paint or fabric colours too to match to.

Can I choose a bespoke size artwork? 

I buy high-quality deep edge canvases from Cass Art or Jacksons Art, which are pre-stretched cotton on a wooden frame. These are standard size. If you want a bespoke size, this is not problem - I use a different company to make up my bespoke canvases which has a longer lead time and is usually more expensive. I can create prints at bespoke sizes too to suit your space.

 

Do you teach art? 

No, I do not teach art. I have volunteered my time to do various art workshops at my childrens' schools, but I do not regularly teach adults or kids. I prefer to spend my time in the studio working on my collections and commissions.

Yes, please contact me to arrange a visit. Monday to Friday 09.30-15.30 is best for me.

Where can I see your Richmond paintings? 

I have many artworks in my studio, so get in touch with me first. Local galleries also have my work and the Richmond Hill bakery has a permanent collection of prints and paintings of Richmond Hill on their walls as I am the resident artist there.

What motivates and inspires your paintings?

I walk every day, usually over 10k steps before 9am with my dog Nell! We walk through Bushy Park and along the Thames by Teddington bridge. The views constantly inspire me to paint and my phone is full of views I have captured to paint. I find mindfulness on my walks and want to bring this calm into the studio. We have a cottage in Emsworth where I have a studio and I am inspired by the sea views and incredible light down there. I ski every year and am in awe of the mountains and the grandeur of the landscape – so that inspires me to put brush to canvas. So, the natural outdoors and the sky is my inspiration.

Is there anything you don’t paint?

I occasionally say no to commissions if I feel I won’t do a view justice. I don’t paint portraits, and although I can add figures in I prefer them to be subtle and in ‘action’, as I prefer the main focus to be the landscape. I prefer countryside or seascape scenes, full of space to breathe, not city panoramas or fiddly architecture. I don’t do pet portraiture, but I am happy to add in your dog subtly running along.
